WHAT IS AN ARMORTEK KIT?

An Armortek kit is a 1/6 scale (1:6) model of a real military vehicle – a tank, tank destroyer, half-track, armoured car or gun, and even a 1950 Series 1 car – that you build yourself. Almost every part is metal: mainly aluminium, with steel for drive parts and thin sheet, and brass for bushes and details. Every kit is designed in-house and machined on our CNC machines in Hampshire, in the UK.

LARGE SCALE, AND HEAVY

At 1/6 scale a tank is big. A basic Elefant kit weighs about 90 kg, and a Tiger 1 with all option packs and batteries about 110 kg. Each kit includes the machined, cast and sheet-metal parts, bearings, all fasteners and a full instruction manual with assembly drawings. Paint, adhesives and other consumables are not included.

FROM STATIC MODEL TO REMOTE CONTROL

A kit builds into a complete static model. Add the Motion option pack and it becomes a radio-controlled (RC) model that drives; on turreted tanks the turret turns and the gun elevates. The Sound, Recoil and Smoke option packs build on the Motion pack.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

Most tanks take about 200 to 400 hours to build and paint. You will need some experience of modelling or working with metal, a set of good hand tools and a sturdy workbench. We help by email, and owners share their builds on the Armortek Forum.

LIMITED EDITIONS, ORDERED BY EMAIL

Kits are made in limited batches, typically fewer than 100, and each limited edition kit comes with a numbered certificate. Some models are made again years later; others never are. To order, or to ask about a kit, email sales@armortek.co.uk – we do not take orders through the website.
