Top FAQs

What experience do I need to build a kit?2017-11-13T14:29:22+00:00

We recommend that you have some experience of modelling or working with metal to build our kits. Although the parts are manufactured on state of the art CNC machines, the builder can expect to need to fettle some parts – for example, filing, clear holes, deburring, etc.

A comprehensive instruction booklet with drawings and part numbers breaks down the construction into simple stages. We also offer support via email and there is a very resourceful customers forum to provide guidance if you get stuck.

Can the models be left as bare metal?2017-07-15T20:10:55+01:00

Yes they can. Many customers choose not to paint their kits.

However, some of the parts of the kit are mild steel and would need either oil or lacquer coating to prevent them from rusting. All other parts can be left untreated as bare metal components.

Do you provide ready built models or only kits ?2017-07-15T20:50:29+01:00

We predominately sell kits for our customers to build themselves.

However, if you would like a ready built kit, let us know and we may either be able to offer a build service or provide details of individuals that can build the kits for you.

Do you have a shop I can visit?2017-07-15T17:41:04+01:00

Although we do not have a shop, we are happy to receive visitors at our manufacturing site in Hampshire, United Kingdom.

Please let us know in advance if you wish to visit as we may not be able to accommodate your visit otherwise.

What are Armortek and Kompact Kits made out of?2017-10-22T16:17:37+01:00

Our kits are predominantly made out of metal – with the obvious exception of components like rubber tyres and canvas roofs.

We use mainly aluminium. In general, steel is used for some drive components and thin sheet metal, whilst brass is used for some bushes and decorative components.

Where are the kits produced?2017-07-15T16:32:06+01:00

Our Armortek and Kompact kits are designed in-house and manufactured at our site in Hampshire in the UK. We have state of the art CNC machines on which we machine the components in our kits.

We source laser cut sheets in the UK, whist molded and cast components are sourced from either the UK or from the Far East.

Do you make kits in any other size scale?2017-07-15T16:24:16+01:00

We have specialised in 1/6th scale metal models. We currently do not produce any other scales.
