FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The kits include all the parts necessary to build the model as illustrated.
This includes:
- machined, cast, and sheet metal parts
- Bearings and all fasteners required
- Comprehensive instruction manual and assembly drawings.
The basic kit provides you with a complete static model.
Option Packs can be added to provide Motion, Sound, Gun Recoil and Smoke.
Not included are adhesives and paints.
We recommend that you have some experience of modelling or working with metal to build our kits. Although the parts are manufactured on state of the art CNC machines, the builder can expect to need to fettle some parts – for example, filing, clear holes, deburring, etc.
A comprehensive instruction booklet with drawings and part numbers breaks down the construction into simple stages. We also offer support via email and there is a very resourceful customers forum to provide guidance if you get stuck.
You will need a set of good hand tools. The following list should be regarded as the minimum:
- Spanners (wrenches) 5.5mm, 7mm, 8mm, 10mm and a mini adjustable.
- Allen (hex) keys 1.5mm-6mm.
- Screw drivers small flat blade 3mm and 4mm.
- Pliers 5” long nose, 5” combination.
- Small hammer
- Files selection of needle files and small hand files.
In addition to the above, a selection of larger files and a cordless drill with 3mm, 4mm and 5mm drill bits (for clearing through holes) can be useful to speed things up. You will also need a good sturdy work bench as these kits are heavy once fully assembled.
Our kits are predominantly made out of metal – with the obvious exception of components like rubber tyres and canvas roofs.
We use mainly aluminium. In general, steel is used for some drive components and thin sheet metal, whilst brass is used for some bushes and decorative components.
Yes, our vehicle kits can be remote controlled through the addition of the Motion option pack.
Yes they can. Some customers choose not to paint their kits.
However, some of the parts of the kit are mild steel and would need either an oil or lacquer coating to prevent them from rusting. All other parts can be left untreated as bare metal components.
We predominately sell kits for our customers to build themselves.
However, we do offer a service to build and paint the model. We have limited capacity to offer this service – if you are interested, please contact us at sales@armortek.co.uk. This service cannot be ordered through our website.
You can either place an order via our website or send us an email at sales@armortek.co.uk and we will get back to you.
Through our website we accept American Express, Visa and Mastercard in British Pounds only. Payments are handled securely online through Opayo (formerly) SagePay. We do not hold your Credit or Debit card details.
We also accept payment by Bank Transfer (Wire Transfer) in British Pounds, Euros and US Dollars. Please contact us to pay in EUR or USD.
We ship our products worldwide and already have customers in over 30 countries. Click here for details, or contact us at sales@armortek.co.uk
Yes you can.
We accept USD and Euro payments by Bank Transfer (Wire Transfer). For more details, please contact us at sales@armortek.co.uk.
The number of parts per kit will vary by model and it is best to check the product’s page for more details.
However, as an example, the Elefant kit contains:
- Almost 190 UNIQUE parts (excluding fasteners)
- Over 1,300 parts (excluding fasteners)
- Almost 1,500 fasteners
In general, one of our tanks takes about 100 to 200 hours to build and paint, but it is not an easy question to answer and depends on your modelling experience as well as how much time is spent on painting and adding after market details or customising parts.
We have customers who build the kits and keep them in their bare metal finish and we have customers who can spend years researching a certain tank and faithfully replicating all the details of that particular tank onto their model. We also have the full spectrum of customers in between.
Option packs are optional extras that can be bought and added to the basic Armortek kit.
We currently sell the following option packs:
Motion Pack – enables motion and steering for the vehicle through radio control. In the case of tanks it also allows turret rotation and elevation/ slew of the main gun. The product pages for the relevant motion pack provides more details on what is included.
Sound Pack – enables sounds linked to the motion of the vehicle such as start up and running. Some sound cards also enable crew voices. Motion pack must be purchased in order to use the sound pack.
Recoil Pack – in the case of tanks, it allows for the recoil of the main gun via radio control. The sound of firing is also triggered. Sound pack must be purchased in order to use recoil.
Smoke Pack – allows for a smoke effect to be created on starting and driving the vehicle. Motion pack must be purchased in order to use the Smoke Pack.
If you have more questions, please have a look at our Frequently Asked Question page – click here.
Yes you can.
We generally keep option packs in stock for several years so they can be purchased at a later date. With most of our kits, the option packs can be added once the kit has been built, however some disassembly may be required.
The Churchill Mk III Tank was a product of the British Army’s approach to dividing the role of tanks in to 3 categories:
- the Light Tank, intended mainly for a recon role,
- the Cruiser, intended to be a light and fast to exploit gaps in the enemy’s defence, and
- the Infantry tank, intended to support the infantry during attacks.
The Churchill Mk III fell very much into the latter category – with its heavy armour, slow speed and excellent slope climbing abilities.
Despite several initial mechanical problems as a result of its hasty development and limited testing, the Churchill Mk III along with the other Marks went on to be a success for the British Army and in total over 5.600 tanks across all the variants were produced.
Armortek’s 1:6 scale Churchill Mk III tank is based off measurements of the Churchill Mk III and Mk IV tanks at the Tank Museum in Bovington as well as from research from their archives.
The Armortek Churchill Mk III tank is sold as a kit for assembly and can be turned into an Radio Controlled (RC) Tank through the addition of options.
Motion Pack

Turn your kit into an RC tank with the motion pack
The pack includes 2 HE electric motors for drive, servos for elevation/ slew as well as an electronics pack and the mechanical parts needed.
Sound Pack

Bring your RC tank alive with real high definition sounds
The pack includes the electronics and speakers needed to bring engine start up, acceleration sounds (proportional to RC transmitter throttle position) gun firing and many more. Digital recordings made from real engines.
Recoil Pack

Add main gun recoil and flash to your RC tank.
The pack includes the motor, LEDs, electronics and mechanical components to add realistic main run recoil and recovery to your tank.
Smoke Pack

Add realistic exhaust smoke to your RC tank.
The pack includes the smoke box, heating unit, fan and the electronics needed. The fan activates when the tank moves.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Whilst every effort has been made to describe and illustrate our model accurately on this web site we reserve the right to vary the kit content, design, or materials used. All dimensions and weights used throughout this website are approximate.
Our kits are made predominately of metal, but may contain some rubber part (tyres and bump stops) as well as some perspex (periscopes) and resin detail parts (axe, shovel, jack etc).
Where feasible, our kits have scale thickness armour – which is one of the reasons why they are so heavy and robust. However, in some cases, for engineering or practical reasons the thickness of the parts may not be to scale. An example is the mudguards on the tanks which we make from 1mm steel. If we were to make these to scale thickness, they would not be robust enough.
