Jagdtiger Build - Sequence advice...

Post by Mike Fala »

Firstly, hello fellow members of the forum! Needless to say, I’m pleased to be here. Reading a lot of posts RE the Jagdtiger, I can’t wait to get mine up and running. Although, I’m in need of some advice and expertise...hoping someone can help.

So far what I have managed to get done is:

1. Compete a ‘dry fit’ of the main components, making sure everything fits as it should.
2 . Build the tracks (painful but a satisfying outcome)

The detail on this is second to none.

I want now to construct the wheels, which are both steel /aluminium as well as assemble the hull for the last time, but before I do I want to prime the parts before paint. Is there normally a particular sequence for paint / primer that anyone follows?

Additionally, in terms of prepping parts ready for paint, any advice? Sand to rough up the surface? What do you typically use to prep the surfaces? Once prepped, clean with acetone? Sorry for the 20 questions, just new to metal RC models... i have also read that I need to use an etch primer (what I have read is normal primer just don’t stick). Any recommendations?

I will post some progress pics shortly.

Thanks

Mike

Looking good!

I’m not going to prime the unbuilt pieces UNLESS they are steel. With wheels paint the rims and assemble all the components.

Paint steel parts as I go a long. Once everything is assembled and test run I will etch and paint. Hope that helps!

Thanks Brian,

Keeping a close eye on your thread! In the end, I decided to send the majority of the bits for paint with a local painter. I can’t be doing it inside my house, the other half would kill me even if the acid etch didn’t.
