proportional smoke

Post by Steen Vøler » Sun Aug 26, 2018 8:12 pm

Hi all

Wondered if a sort of proportional smoke effect could be accomplished by wiring my 24v smoke fan to the motors - one at each motor power cables

The heat element is still wired to a on-off switch remotely controlled via my transmitter

Any thoughts here
cheers
Steen

Steen, I thought you already had one of my smoker fan control units ?

There are a couple of problems when using the motor supplies.

1) Possible damage to the fan when running the tank backwards, as the voltage across the fan is reversed. You need a bridge rectifier to solve this.
2) There's no smoke output when the tank is not moving. There's no solution so this, other than using the smoker output from the Benedini board, as I do with my module.

If you want to stick to pure analogue (I've got massive overkill solution with a raspberry pi) you would use a rectifier (as Adrian suggested) from the motors AND a drip feed from the main supply (resistor and diode) for idle.

My new setup is Benedini Mini with 60 w amplifier.

Smoker is pure 24v, both fan and heat element
