After not doing anything on my sdkfz 7, now i have started, only a small amount, i have spent time thinking about and collecting parts, i have a set of Michal Matata sprockets which are a work of genius, they are a complicated item to make and way beyond me even if i was in the mood to have a go, Tim Catton Rifle Rack clips and semiphore indicator arms which are also superb, i will post anything of interest, but this vehicle has been well covered, to a high build level, regards simon.

Thanks dave and Fabian, Tim Catton is the man you need for lots of SDKFZ-7 upgrade parts, He supplies, Dashboards, tools, all the clips and brackets, indicators, i will send over his e-mail, he is based here in the u.k. and his parts are superb. also steve winstone does upgrade work on these vehicles, cuts down build time because your thinking about the Jagdtiger kit coming, regards aimon.

you have got to start somewhere so wheels it is, there's a small detail missing from the inner wheel's, a set of opening's, drill first then finish by hand, time consuming, one wheel every other day, to keep sane? regards simon.

made some progress, finished adding some wheel detail and have assembled part of the chassis, i have to say these halftracks are a very enjoyable build, not to heavy and a change from a tank. regards simon.

Hi Simon,

I knew if I left it long enough you would get started first

Great work with the wheels, are your wheels aluminum or the nickle ones and how long did it tke you to drill all of them out and file the slot?

Nice to hear from you Paul, i think they are cast aluminium, new drill bit's 3mm, oil, on my proxxon drill stand, one wheel a night, about 1 hour per wheel, then some hand fileing, helped with a small beer. i am enjoying the build a lot, it's different from a tank, and lighter. get your sdkfz 7 on the go, some more halfrack interest. regards simon.

These Halftracks are a great build, simple but you have to be precise, the wheel clearence is close, i used some 7ba bolts to fix the wheels on for a more realistic bolt size, i never changed the bolt pattern at this stage, it might tempt me later, applied some base color on those hard to reach areas, its one of those kits you work out as you go, i like it. regards simon.
