Hi Phil,

Wow you have one hec of a Tiger 1 there, ur eyes and skills to get the details correct are amazing me like.

Just one thing....those flaps are not flappers in constant use as they are check valves only in use during (Tauch) submerging.
Normaly they was pinned down in open position.
http://tiger1.info/EN/Dragon-mufflers.html
But they do look good in the You Tube clip. :D

Keep the saga comming the Tiger will be awesome.
Kind regards
Kent

Praise indeed from the master, thank you Kent! I'm working on the track pulling rope right now and thats challenging. 8)

Now this Tiger will be for sale at some point but will be for the connoisseur, sold with or without the frightening 12 gauge blank firing device, also with the steel tracks or the standard variety.....so many choices! 8)

Px always welcome.

This unit just lifts out for maintenance.

Finishing this lot, the cooling fans now work proportionately with the Maybach engine revs.

Mg led now connected to the tx mg function.

It's getting very busy in there, very complicated but I do label everything which makes life a whole lot easier .
IMG_20201120_170018_kindlephoto-6005704.jpg
Lots more work to get this right!

Phil, the smoke and sound look phenomenal (er would that be Philnominal - :o ) - Great work indeed. The smoke puffing and chugging is really realistic. I like the flapper valve function as well.
Best regards,
Bob

January 1943 for the rope configuration.
IMG_20201121_115714_kindlephoto-7065153.jpg
A tip, to get new wire rope to look used and in period burn the plastic core with a blow torch, this takes the spring out and relaxes the whole thing, careful as it actually burns.
IMG_20201121_120918_kindlephoto-7034972.jpg
I use cable ties to hold the rope in the position while I work on it, this makes it a whole lot easier to take off and mount again.

You guys with the latest kit have it easy with the new turrets, the old cast variety do take some fetling that's for sure.
IMG_20201123_113930_kindlephoto-8633618.jpg
That's the last of my new old stock turrets.
IMG_20201123_115125_kindlephoto-8609046.jpg
The turret on the top can go into store for when I revamp the old range target.

Been busy with the mantlet, recoil tube and the fixings. 8)

Very nice piece the mantlet, lovely job by Armortek. The casting numbers, some examples had just a single number like a "5" but I like the look of this type.

IMG_20201125_160559_kindlephoto-13417517.jpg
The recoil tube had a very good finish on the 1/1 example so we should have the same.
IMG_20201125_160611_kindlephoto-13397640.jpg
The sealing collar screws added, they are so small and very easily lost but despite being so small they really do stand out.

Moving along.
IMG_20201126_133328_kindlephoto-8450076.jpg
Here's a tip, use this stuff to completely secure your milliput welds. Respect this cyno as the capillary action if breathtaking, it will stick you fingers like crazy.
IMG_20201126_135033_kindlephoto-8434902.jpg
You will need to cut a strip off the turret roof front edge if your using a cast turret and a newer kit turret roof.
IMG_20201126_140527_kindlephoto-8416125.jpg
Draw filing, the most satisfying.
IMG_20201126_153152_kindlephoto-8400555.jpg

You will need to improve the profile of the loaders periscope armour from square to round.
IMG_20201127_160826_kindlephoto-8980257.jpg
Periscope added.
IMG_20201127_160843_kindlephoto-8961048.jpg
IMG_20201127_160853_kindlephoto-8944729.jpg
You will need to cut out the aperture for the periscope in the turret roof, if you want to fit one that is.

Detailing the turret vent, as it has the cover you really need to add the wing nut detail.
IMG_20201128_133121_kindlephoto-12843171.jpg
The cover that we can see here was removed for firing for obvious reasons.
IMG_20201128_133137_kindlephoto-12821073.jpg
Commanders Hatch 2.jpg
Good reference pic this one.
IMG_20201128_143242_kindlephoto-12772871.jpg
Making the hatch assister springs .
IMG_20201128_143654_kindlephoto-12755921.jpg
IMG_20201128_143711_kindlephoto-12727661.jpg
There's much more to add.
IMG_20201128_153243_kindlephoto-12676346.jpg
Using my pad to scale the exact position of the fittings.
IMG_20201128_160016_kindlephoto-12653965.jpg
Just about done but for the tiny holes on the vertical face equally spaced all the way round, don't know what they are for?
IMG_20201128_160418_kindlephoto-12632500.jpg
Now the outside fittings correspond to the internal fittings, which is handy.
IMG_20201128_161450_kindlephoto-12607547.jpg
The monster fitted and ready.

"Just about done but for the tiny holes on the vertical face equally spaced all the way round, don't know what they are for?"

They are drainage holes. Without them, the cupola would hold quite a bit of water, covering the hatch, providing a very unpleasant surprise when opening...
A little too much is about right...

Making it fit.
IMG_20201201_143451_kindlephoto-10515088.jpg
I have to move The handle to the center for 1943, and lose the opening key hole in the middle.
IMG_20201201_163155_kindlephoto-10482877.jpg
Internal detail went well.
IMG_20201201_163204_kindlephoto-10461312.jpg
The hinge strap detail added in brass.
IMG_20201201_163433_kindlephoto-10427009.jpg
All done, welds added and primed.
IMG_20201201_163505_kindlephoto-10399921.jpg
Maybe just little bit more welding needed.
