No Vince,I haven't tightened them down yet.Ive just put them in far enough to grab the torsion bar so as not to lose the spring washers.

Deja Vu,only this time everything is final....hopefully.

The wheels are painted in Camoflage as in the Tiger 222 Normandy.I was going to weather the track pin guides and bump stops but didn't as I'm not good enough to make it look good.

I've been trying to work out the best setup inside the Hull,I think I've pretty much decided on how I'm going to final fit everything.

Before I full commit myself and start shortening wires and the like I need to see how far the turret turn motor hangs down.Ive an adea how I will get access to the charger plug and I've got a 24v relay that totally disconnects the power from the battery to the electronics.I'm a Ludite with the patience of a Tasmanian devil so there won't be anything fancy in there.

I goofed with the smoke system and managed to pull a couple of wires out of there connectors,I thought I'd blown the fan motor but it turns out I'd just blown a 10a fuse which I've replaced and the smoke system now works. The sound is also working but as I havent calibrated it yet the engine sound doesn't start until around 1/4 throttle so the smoke system isnt really working with the engine revs.

I'm thinking I might start Zimmeriting the Lower hull so I can get on with the deck plates. Then i can get some idea how much room I've got under the turret motor.

I've also decided to make some perspex trays to mount switches and other stuff.

I haven run it since I put it all together properly so that is something I need to do.

Is there a measurement to show how far the turret turn motor protrudes into the lower hull?

Good to see an update Glen and thanks.

Here is a photo of the turret turn motor fitted to the hull roof. Is that what you were asking for?

Thank you Vince, that's exactly what I needed,I thought the motor was at the back of the turret ring,So I can relax how I stack the modules.

I've been trying my hand at Zimmerite,I know that it is random and subjective but how untidy is alright?

Re: Novice Late Tiger Build.,zimm and paint.

I've done most of the Zimmerite and sprayed the base colour. The tile adhesive was starting to go off at times and became difficult to spread so I just added water which made things a lot better.

Hardly the most professional setup but good enough.

It looks a lot better with paint on it.

The left side was a bit untidy but I thought it would be ok....wrong,resistance was futile,it had to come off and be redone.

Even with paint it looked untidy.

Glen
I think your zimmerit looked great. It was a bit untidy being applied by hand on real tanks, as you mention. Its supposed to be rough looking.
Normandy camo is looking good on the wheels.
Best regards
Bob

Hi Glen,

Outstanding work on your Late Tiger1, the zimmerit look spot on the real thing.
Well done and keep the photos comming.
Just one tiny, tiny observation...the zimmerit was also behind the track guards as seen in this photo.

Kind regards
Kent

Thank you for your encouragement,Kent,I did think about putting it behind the track guards and may still do so.Although I've redone the left side I am still not happy with it so,I could extend both sides down. The biggest job is not the Zimm but the getting the tank outside to spray it.The airbrush struggles covering such a big area.

The Zimmerite is done for now so I started work on the hatches.Ive done just one at the moment,it needs finishing and a bit of weathering doing on the inside but it looks ok.

I did think about using the Armortek hatches and detailing them with the Armorpax parts but i haven got Vince's skills so rather than damaging both options i stuck with the Armorpax hatches and the original hinges.I might look at fitting the hatch springs but I'll look into that later.

I like your idea of using the kit hinges. Wish there was a "thumbs up" smiley.

I've done some work on the hatches today, the plan was to put some rust effect under the main colour.

So that's what I did,it didn't quite work out as I had forgot to put this stuff on over the rust...

I was going to re-do it but time was getting on and putting 4 colours through the airbrush is a proper pain.I still need to try it out so I can do other parts of the tank if it works.

For the moment I did a bit of detailing after the event so to speak.😊

Photo to follow.
