thanks adrian and jeff, i looked at meccano gears on e-bay and i thought they seemed expensive, have you an alternative in brass, or just keep looking,
thanks for the praise regards simon.

the last of the crane posts, nearly there apart from the lifting ring and cable, not sure of the material to use for the cable, wire is not flexiable enough at this scale, i will see what the internet throws up, just some paint to apply and detailing left on this part, regards simon.

thats about it, finished, all i need to do is make the handle, the shell clamp has a clever hinge set up or so it appears, a retainig pin is removed, the shell is placed in the seperated ring, replace the pin, and as the shell is lifted the hinge tightens the band around the shell, well thats how i think it works, the hinge in its design is to elaborate to be just a clasp, regards simon.

i have roughed out the basics of the winch, it does work but needs more attention to detail, a tricky little item, i will look for some brass gears instead of nylon which i think would be better, all for now , regards simon.
Hi Simon

I bought a quantity of meccano gears sometime ago I think they are still in the garage if you let me know what you need I will have a look through them to see if I have any that you require@
Regards

Bryan

thanks bryan for the offer, i thought about it afterwards, how many times am i likely to want to lift a shell in to the tank, proberbly never, the nylon cogs will have to do, the whole mechanism does work but i would have preferred brass, if i did it again i would plan it better, but builds gain a momemtum and for me it's best to keep it going, easy to get bogged down in to much detail, all the best simon.

i felt i was time to revitalise the sturmtiger build, i am on the home straight, well as much as poss without going crazy, the barrel and elevation ball would benefit from some more detail added, it would be a long term project to replicate the interior, so near enough is good enough. the rifleing in the barrel will be the hard part. seasons greetings simon manning.

Simon, I'm well overdue adding my praise to your stunning build. It's an education. I've just acquired a copy of Achtung Panzer No 6 on the Tiger and to my surprise, it's also got a good section on the big dustbin launcher. If you haven't got it and need any info, please shout.

All the best.

Stephen

Looking good Simon, what a rare model these sturmtigers are! I can only think of a three more that have been built.

Great build log with lots of detail that will assist other builders for sure.

Regards
David

yes that is a rare vehicle, will we ever se it again in public. this is the progress on the sturm rifleing, cut shim steel strip's and glued them to a flexible backing, rolled it around an aerosol can to get the shape, test fitted, tweaked, pushed and pulled till i was happy, glued the sleeve in and placed clips to hold, now the finishing to come, slightly darken the bore for that more gunmetal look but keeping the metallic finish. happy new year simon.
