Looks like the kit build is wrong...the beams should come out to each of the 'points' not the curve.

Unless some were built differently?

Thanks for mentioning! Didn't even see that after reading your post.
Luckely i only fixed the rivets so i can pop them out and drill new holes to change it.

Today the US tie-downs from Armorpax came in, they are perfect for the job! Thanks Dave.

Busy measuring and trying to fix them.
Also got the brass in shape, need to work on the tie-down holes and get the holes for the rivets in place.

And if you put them together, you get something like this:

Plates are done, roughly. Now im busy fitting Dave's parts and make moving things move smoothly. Hopefully in a few weeks the first paint..

The ground ring will not be attached, to save weight and make it more easy to store the model. And i think it looks better without it :)

Reworked the seat
Got the thick piece cnc'd to make it look like a thinner plate, but it's like a cone now, same thickness in the base to keep the strength. On the real one it was flat:

After that I took a bit of scrap wood and glued it on.

Dont know if i'm gonna paint it in the same color, and wear and tear it a bit, or I use a furniture wax/oil to keep the wood in sight.

Leon,
Love that gunners seat! Most were painted in the same colour as the rest of the gun, in those times the piece did not have to look nice!
But I do agree that waxed or oiled wood certainly looks a lot better! :D
Excellent shot of the seat support by the way.

Regards,

Marcus

I saw them in black, color of the whole piece or waxed..

I think i'm going for the painted with some wear on it, so the wood comes through.

Today was bracket day. Dont look at the glue mess, it's very thin so spilling is everywhere! easy to remove with a razorblade so I don't mind

Put a little pin in the breechblock so it wont fall out when in action (behind a tank or something)

Next thing to do is lay some welds with putty, sand the whole thing, add some last rivets and nuts/bolts and then prep for paint!

I got rivets left!
I have mixed them in the kit because they are slightly different in size.
I did this because the original werent the same sizes also :)
Image

What you also can see on the picture is that i'm in the chipping fase.
The paint on it looks like old paint with a new layer on it. So it shows wear and tear.

With the first coat I can also see where the flaws are in the model, so I can correct it.
After this the model gets his final coat in Tamiya NATO green, as suggested by friend moddelers who prefer this color for ww2 British green
