Re: POLL: What transmitter/ Receiver do you use
Hello Stephen,
may I add the following I heared at the International Toy Fair in Nuremberg / Germany?
Graupner developped the HoTT System in its own laboratories in Germany, not in Korea. Graupner's former chief of development (Ralf Helbing) now is the head of Graupner/SJ Germany. To push the Trademark 'Graupner' the Korean company 'SJ Incorporated' has changed to 'Graupner Co. Ltd.' The European branch keeps the name 'Graupner/SJ GmbH'.
In my opinion the HoTT system was the first GHz system with an extensive telemetry. In this time a Futaba representative at the International Toy Fair in Nuremberg said to me: "why does a model airplane pilot need any feedback channel or telemetry system?'
Today I know not any pilot who relinquishes at infos of range limits, charge status monitoring and so on, and also the model tank scene has recognised the benefits; especially when using LiFe drive batteries. Leaving the range limit is more a problem for RC pilots than for tank drivers; but battery charge status, temperature of motors / ESC, critical threshold warnings and so on are very helpful when the tank is 'on mission' in grounds that are not reachable by a 'recovery service'

Re: POLL: What transmitter/ Receiver do you use
Gerhard thanks for responding. Your point about telemetry is very well made, especially when using LiFePO3 with its cliff-edge discharge curve.
SJ Inc would presumably have customers believe that the former Graupner brand continues seamlessly, with continuity in development, quality control, sales and distribution. If that were the case, they could perhaps justify the premium prices which the former Graupner company commanded based on brand reputation built over eighty years.
The new company may share a name but it is wholly owned by the S Korean parent company who provide the key functions and direction. Graupner Ltd is effectively a new brand and should be compared with its peers accordingly.
Kian, back to your poll, apologies for this diversion.

Currently using a Futaba 7C for the Mark IV, edging towards a Spectrum for the fail-safe improvements.

Re: POLL: What transmitter/ Receiver do you use
Dear All,
Just purchased a Spektrum DX7s and now want to know if you have to use a Spektrum receiver or are there any other makes that people would recommend? This is my first experience with multi channel controllers and therefore the number of switches/toggles are a little over whelming at present. For my quad I think I need to control the following;
1. forward and reverse,
2. left and right,
3. winch in/out,
4. sound, and
5. lights on/off
Regards
Dave

Hi Dave,
No you must stick to Spektrum receivers, there are cheap ones available but some of them don't work with the DX7.
Dennis.

Re: POLL: What transmitter/ Receiver do you use
Have just picked up a Futaba T6EX (2.4G FAST) with my Panzer 111.
Definately prefer Spektrums.

Re: POLL: What transmitter/ Receiver do you use
Just an observation (but one that seems to be echoed on the RC aircraft and drone forums). The mood seems to be that:
- European RC systems are all but dead. Graupner is now a Korean company in all but name.
- Futaba is seen as the system of yesterday but is now declining in build quality, lacks telemetry, software is crude and is stuck in a cost-cutting rut
- Spectrum is the current system of choice, simple, good quality and fine for straightforward use and offers telemetry. Not simple to programme.
- but is being superseded by systems which offer telemetry as standard and most importantly can run Open Source Transmitter programming software which can be run and tested on a PC such as OpenTx.
We've already seen Liam Maloney use OpenTx to programme the Tx to simulate gear changes and there are a host of possible applications which could follow. As far as I know, there are threeranges which currently support OpenTx:
FrSky - https://www.frsky-rc.com/
Turnigy - http://www.turnigy.com/
I believe the FlySky system Dennis mentioned is re-badged Turnigy system (or maybe the other way around):
http://www.flyskyrc.com/
These manufacturers offer 16 channel systems, upgradable to 32, with OpenTx at discount prices. The way forward?

Re: POLL: What transmitter/ Receiver do you use
Hi Dennis, No it does not.
I have to push buth sticks forward to get it to move and then steer as if i was in a real tank with skid steer control. it is wierd and not pleasant when trying to load & unload with ramps into a car.
The engine sounds are all i can get so far by pushing the right stick to the right.
I have just purchased a new Spektrum AR8000 RX today from my local shop and will fit that tonight so it works with my DX9.
I will then have to setup the P11 Benedini to work with the Encoder on my DX9.
At least this way i will also have a failsafe that i can depend on.
Cheers
Tim
