Fitting tyres to solid wheels
As a complete newbie to Armortek Rolls Royce .while awaiting the tools to arrive that I have ordered I thought I would use the time to fit the tyres to the solid wheels , what is the secret of doing this please. All advice will be gratefully received , *and no doubt I will be asking for more as the build goes on

Firstly, welcome to the game !
If you look at Robert Reid's thread on the Rolls-Royce, he gives advice on how to do it (that's on the spoked wheels, but the principle is the same). I haven't done it myself (yet !), but you need to boil the tyres in a pan to soften them. It's not possible otherwise ....... Good luck !
Stay well,
Chris

Re: Fitting tyres to solid wheels
This was me boiling a set of Sd.Kfz 222 tyres to get them to sit back on the rims correctly.
It might be obvious but wear gloves when you get them out of the water!!

Re: Fitting tyres to solid wheels
Hello Tony, accepting all that has been said, I was able to dry/push fit all my tyres, using the 'back of a spoon' as a lever, on my Rolls Royce. Just saying....

Re: Fitting tyres to solid wheels
My grateful thanks to those who gave advice , four wheels done this morning, tyres into pan of water ,one at a time , heated to boiling and kept at that for 15 minutes , using an egg timer , and tyres went on with the help of a mallet , needed a bit of a thump but not much force , All seated great
