Hi All, Simon, sorry I missed your comment thanks for the welcome back I am still finding my way around the new workshop. Still finding my way back to building my tiger tank but I am starting to move forward in a couple of areas. I am still working on the filler caps and surrounding areas. I have ma...

Re: Tiger 131 In South Wales

Hi Dennis, It was really nice to meet you, thanks for all your advice and help with the radio control systems. It is all sorted with Adrian and I should have the set soon. I have not purchased the Armortek options yet as I am waiting for upgraded gun recoil with smoke discharge to come on line. I da...

Re: Tiger 131 In South Wales

Hi Vince, Thanks for your comments, yes I did mean diameter and I look forward to see what you come up with. I do think that the original filler caps supplied by armortek are the right size or closer to the right size than the modification that I am doing. I just feel that that this would be the bes...

Re: Tiger 131 In South Wales

Hi All, I have had a go at restarting my Tiger build over the past few days, and the area that I decided to work on was the filler caps on the rear decks. I did not have any confirmed measurements so it has been all guess work from photos and that was the start of my problems by making a change to f...

Re: Tiger 131 In South Wales

Hi All, It's been a long time since my last update but I am now just about ready to resume my tiger 131 build. I have just finished building my new tank barracks and now finishing off the internal layout. The new barracks will hopefully be a bit more comfortable to work in particularly in the winter...

Re: Vince's Tiger 1 late variant 2017

Hi Vince,

The exhaust armour nuts are 48mm in size on Tiger 131 I think I used standard M4 bolts for this job.

Re: Tiger 131 In South Wales

Hi Simon, I think I machined out parts of the hinges out first but left enough aluminium to keep the some strength in the aluminium block so that it did not flex when I drilled out the holes. When I drilled out the first hinge I used a 1.5mm drill bit and then changed to 2mm milling bit this made a ...

Re: Tiger 131 In South Wales

Hi, Simon and Adrian, Thanks for asking about my Tiger 131 build unfortunately it has been on hold since my last update. Since that update my total focus has been renovating our new home as it has not been touched in nearly 30 years and as one gets older things just take longer to do. I am hoping to...

Re: Tiger 131 In South Wales

Hi Paul, Chris,

Thanks for your encouraging words always appreciated. As regards my square drill bit I milled a 3mm hole 1.75mm deep and then used a 1mm milling bit to square out the hole to 3.3mm square.

Regards

Re: Tiger 131 In South Wales

Hi Paul, Thanks for your kind words and I think that plodding along is the right description for me at the moment. Using David Bryden website as starting point for making the engine hatch I now made all of the rear deck plates and hatches and fitted into place. I still have a lot of detail to add pa...

Re: Tiger 131 In South Wales

Hi All, I am working on two areas of the tiger at the moment, catching up on some painting and working on the rear hatches. With regards to the painting I decided to use different etch primer that requires mixing the two parts myself. The adhesion seems very good as I have a lot more control Appling...

Re: My Beaut Aussie Cent

Stephen, Your work is always of interest, unfortunately for me it all went over my head half way through your first paragraph. I am afraid computers and me do not get along I always having to be rescued by my other half when using a PC. Stunning work just the right amount of fading on the transfers....

Re: Tiger 131 In South Wales

Hi Paul, Thanks for the kind words always appreciated. Making my own parts for these kits is what I get the most enjoyment out of when building a armortek tank, and for me offers very good value for the money when each model takes 3 to 4 years to build. I have just fitted the exhaust caps and I hope...

Re: Tiger 131 In South Wales

Hi Phil,

Thanks for the kind words. I will probably leave the exhaust mounts as they are but I do intend to bash and put a few holes in the thin skin shield around the exhaust.
