Re: Chieftain Build No.17

Looks great and a great job done. I think your muzzle reflectors on the wrong way round. I do that sort of thing a lot but people are usually too polite to say something...... usually  I don't know how you got it together so quick. You must have a bigger hammer than me. On stainless steel...

Thinking out aloud painting the rifling a high gloss silver would enhance the cannon flash LED :D

Re: 00 FD 96 John's Main Contender

Good luck with the drilling and grinding Charles, thanks for the heads up with the build Mark. I have found it pays handsomely if you read and scrutinize the instructions throughout each time a new piece is fitted or section completed. where's the part and when should I fit it? (Front casting ...

Re: 00 FD 96 John's Main Contender

Hi Charles, I haven't got to the fitting of the boxes or the front fenders/mud guards yet. I'm busy with the front of Chiefy Mc tank face casting at the moment. An aspect I've had trouble with visualising. I want the sexy curves with the cheeky roll to the lower armored plate without having to resor...

Re: 00 FD 96 John's Main Contender

After being shamed encouraged to do better with my exhaust box by Richard G, I thought I'd try and go as far as I dare without turning it into confetti. This thing starts out as a large block type item and ends as a much reduced in size, sculptured piece of art by the artist's on the forum. (Of cour...

Re: Chieftain Commanders Cupola Detail set

Back during last September, I asked about the cupola detail. Being told what you see is what you get. Not a lot  To me a Chieftain is not a Chieftain without the GPMG/ Cupola detail, and I'm certainly not going to skimp on it now. So I've brought the wipers and I'm waiting for those other goodi...

Re: A Chequered Chieftain at #10

Totally agree Richard, The more blogs, the more ideas, the better it gets. My general guide is the rule of thumb, having big thumbs, trying to scale the un-scale-able has become a bit of a mare. But on "reflection" it's a nice day, and I'm going to tear the exhaust box off "again" and try and straig...

Re: A Chequered Chieftain at #10

Looking good Richard,

I think I got one of those prototype thingy exhaust boxes, the one's that come virtually symmetrical.

You know the one, the one that fitted to the mysterious Mk4.

Shazbat!

But if I cut carefully.......

"It's mother beautiful bridge and it gonna be there" (Oddball, Kelly's hero's) What beautiful scene too, gorgeous country side, I was in a Thun Switizerland for few weeks, and it's got Tank Museum too! 8) Here's our very own Bailey Bridge near our village, still going strong, though you might ...

Re: Chieftain spring unit

While pondering over the Chieftains front end, I've had a little thought about the suspension units and the problems with them. The ability of them to fall apart if not tied up, wedged up or under tension from the tracks. So I came up with this. I've extended the length of the tie bar between the sp...
