Re: Work on my skills or look at rapid prototyping

Many thanks all for the insightful words. Greg: My only formal training was a few metal work lessons at school. I've been bodging things and getting frustrated since childhood. I only learnt how not to ruin drill bits last year. At the moment I'm leaning towards Stephen's approach. I work with compu...

Work on my skills or look at rapid prototyping

Hello,

I'm always a bit dissatisfied with my metal work efforts. Any advice on if training myself up would pay off or am I better off going for rapid prototyping things like 3d printing/CNC services?

Thanks

Excellent I'm running out of the starlock fasteners. Do you get the new style ones from Armortek?

Turret looks fantastic. Lot of work yet to do on ours.

Re: 4K drone footage of the Tiger 131 at Bovington

Hi Steve, I think I've managed to take 4k snapshots. The recipe is: 1 - Use VLC (https://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.en-GB.html) 2 - Open the video: https://www.vlchelp.com/stream-online-videos-pc-vlc-media-player/ (you can make a local copy of the video via this route too, not sure how legal that is...

4K drone footage of the Tiger 131 at Bovington

Hi,

You have probably all seen this but just in case somebody has not:

Although I've not quite worked out how to do 4K screenshots I've got some very helpful pictures.

Cheers

Early Tiger 1 cupola wanted

Hi,

Does anybody have an unwanted cupola that would be an improvement on my 2004 vintage one? I'm afraid it would have to be at a reasonable price to justify the upgrade ;)

Regards

Re: Tiger 1 (Early Variant) 2004 #98 build

Very slow progress. I now have a new alu deck with the bend roughly in the right place. I'm trying to check (and re-check) placement of the cupola.

Possibly my mistake but could the diameter for 2004 vintage cupola be 9mm too big!?

Cheers

Re: Early Tiger 1 - 2003 vintage - turret deck bend

Thanks Simon,

I'm not sure what sources were used for the 2003 version, it was a few owners of Armortek ago and I think widely accepted that some problems.

I'll try and contact David Byrden.

Cheers

Re: Early Tiger 1 - 2003 vintage - turret deck bend

Thanks Adrian, Great minds.. I've spent the weekend going crazy comparing eight different images fading them in and out. Even more pronounced against Fury/131/(CGI?) tiger1InfoFury131.png ? All the other sources I have seem to align. I might lift the position from the diagram in the Tamiya 1/16th in...

Re: Early Tiger 1 - 2003 vintage - turret deck bend

Thanks Simon, I did mean the ventilator fan. The bit I'm stuck on now is that if I follow the position given in http://tiger1.info/EN/First-turret-fan.html the fan seems to be too far forward and to the right. All the other photos/diagrams I can find including: h1.jpg seem to show the side of the st...

Re: Problems with Forum

Hi Vince,

I'm shown the wrong person under "logged in as". Also the "New Posts" section seemed to have stopped updating for a while.

Same guys that did the TSB upgrade ;)

Re: Early Tiger 1 - 2003 vintage - turret deck bend

I'm going slightly mad trying to be sure I'm putting all the turret things in the right position. Got this aerial of the 131 (or is it CGI?) furyFull.png (Image from/copyright Fury 2014) Really think they should have taken the cover off the air intake before battle ;) Does the 131 have the air intak...

Re: Early Tiger 1 - 2003 vintage - turret deck bend

Thanks David,

I tried that on the original steel one and made a bit of a mess. Do you think the 3mm alu will be tough to bend? or just tough to bend accurately? Luckily it is an early Tiger ;)

Cheers
