The Reality of Fighting (in an M3)

Just seen this on Facebook. It can only be an M3 ..............

It also serves to demonstrate that those who fight in wars to defend us are a special breed !

All the best,

Re: Does size matter?

Of course size matters ! That's why we build 1/6th scale, and not 1/16th ............. Some people just like big things. It's probably a compensation thing :P. But Armortek have produced a whole range of smaller things, like the PzIII, the M3 Medium (hardly a giant), and the Quad. And, of cour...

Re: Armortek Open Day 2019

Well, that was a GREAT day ............ Interesting speakers / demonstrators (thanks to Dave, David Fletcher, Lee and Stephen), lots of old (and new) friends to see (sorry if I didn't get to you all !), loads of food and constant drinks (well, it was a very hot day), goodies to buy / collect (includ...

Feedback on a good trade: Armortek limber and Armorpax

Well, I'm the new owner of Andy's limber, which turned up today. A very easy and quick transaction, and an excellent quality build. It also came with loads of 'Gucci' - shells, shell cases and ammo boxes. So I'm very pleased, and all credit to Andy - a great bloke to deal with. I've now got two limb...

Re: Armorteks next model

Not exactly developing a new marketplace though, is it ? A limited production run of 50 (?) (assuming one per Famo owner), or even less if it's only attractive to someone with both a Famo and a German tank to put on it ................. No, Kian will be looking for something more exciting tha...

Re: Comparing Heights of the M3 & M4A3

We need to regard this within the timeline of tank development ...... The M3 was a direct descendent of the M2, which itself could trace a direct line back to the WW1 rhomboidals. The M3 was developed in indecent haste, when American turret development was not sufficiently advanced to take a 75mm gu...

Re: New electronics in August

Looks interesting ..... but I'll need to read the instructions before I come close to understanding it all !

Which pack handles the 'pre-programmed' gun actions, like with the Mark IV and the promised one for the M3 ?

Look forward to hearing more about it at the Open Day,

Re: Heaven. 1944.

Who says you actually have to destroy a tank ? You just need to cause enough peripheral damage (break a track, damage a periscope) to make the crew bail out. Concussion from a near miss could do that, or sheer terror (being under rocket attack would do it for me !). And there's a world of difference...

Re: Tiger Ausf E “F01” Gruppe Fehrmann

Alastair - Welcome to the gang ! We're a friendly, if somewhat opinionated  bunch, so never be afraid of asking for help - we all started with our first bolt / rivet once, and we all love a project (especially an historical one). And, if you live near enough to one of the shows (especially at ...

Re: Chieftain info and banter

Male or female ? Are tanks male or female ? In WW1, the brits had "male" with 6 pounders, "females" with MGs, and hermaphrodites with different sponsons. This is, of course, true. But the WW1 tankies drew nothing from it, and didn't regard one type as better than the other. They normally referred t...

Re: M3 Reading List

This is a new one ....... Thanks to Steve Stuart for flagging it up. M3 Lee (Kagero).jpg ISBN 978-83-66148-48-2. Polish / English text. A4. Available from the usual specialist booksellers, although Amazon seems to have it on pre-order. I got it directly from the (Polish) publisher via eBay, for arou...

Re: Mike's M3 Lee #12 Little Build Things

Mike - Your tips might be "little build things", but they'll be vitally important when I get back to my build. So thanks, and keep 'em coming :). As for the warnings about the hinges ..... makes me glad that I'm going to be 'welding' up the big side doors ! So only the rear engine hatches to worry a...
