Leave in metal finish?

Although I have researched a suitable prototype for my coming Tiger build, I am getting the feeling that it is sad to paint it over. :( If I do, it could just as well have been fiberglass - no one could tell - and I think the metal finish is so cool per se. Just look at the Armortek prototypes! :) W...

I am doing an early Tiger, Nov or Dec 42. I was just whining due to some of the mods that I have to do mainly the pistol port. At least you only have to make one pistol port and you don't have to plug the escape hatch! Gill has an amazing wi.. err, - parts cellar with items from previous production...

Certainly, but as Roland mentioned above, they were removed in October '43 which isn't a very dusty month in southern Russia/Ukraine. The tactical situation was also such that the Tigers often had to drive straight into an overwhelming enemy and got shot up pretty bad. The record holders took...

Looking great! :)

The hatch interiors also look very good - are they standard Armortek or aftermarket?

Cheers,

@Brian Glad you understand me correctly. There are a few other proverbs that come to my mind as possibly meaning something similar: Do it right the first time, all the way, if it is worth doing - it is worth doing well and such. According to Rubbel et al in the "Combat history of the sPzAbt503", Gud...

More mantlets

From Jentz & Doyle - here is a photo of the Kubinka Tiger which appears to have a circular center and perfectly (aside from the hit!) flat surface around the sight: http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/ae290/cahlfors/out1.jpg However, also J&D, an image of the Bovington Tiger (I believe). The black ci...

just milled away... I'll say  This is just stunning. You managed to make it look like it was cast that way from the beginning. Not even the slightest difference in curvatures or surface to give away the modification! You are a true wizard and I wish I had half your skills, Roland! Che...

Roland,
how did you backdate your mantlet?

Cheers,

Chris' Tiger

Well, it's not been sent yet. I imagine mine will be the last. :( But I feel sorry for the poor fellow who only got half his kit. Don't think I would survive that. So, here are some shots of my facilities before the tiger moves in. How do yours measure up? The assembly workshop, where the ta...

Wow - you are already well underway!

I admire your tidyness - your workshop is like in a swiss watch!

Judging from the drum cupola, you too are going to backdate your Tiger

Thanks for the pictures - great fun!

Cheers,
/Chris

If you are a first class R/C engineer looking for a challenge, you could end up with just about the best control and feedback system out there. It certainly is not for someone looking for an "out of the box" solution. Well, I figured that it would make sense to treat my Tiger to the best. After all...

Does anyone have any experience with these units and with their Armortek compatibility?
