Re: 31st Jan 2020 - new kit announcement

Yes, it has to be British.

When 'rear sprocket drive' was mentioned the very first WWII Allied vehicle that popped in to my mind was an armored bulldozer... and I'm sure I'm wrong about that. But I can hope!

Re: 31st Jan 2020 - new kit announcement

Good Morning!

I'm pretty sure (HOPEING!!) I know what it is but don't want to spoil the fun for everyone!

And if it IS what I think I definitely going to order one!!

Re: Armorteks next model

This is just an 'FYI' size comparison between the Sherman and the M113 APC. The Sherman is listed at 9 feet tall (and that measurement is to the top of the turret!) where the top of the 113 upper deck is 8.2, almost the same height, just a few inches shorter. And that's not including the 113 command...

Re: Armorteks next model

I'd planned to order a King Tiger and figured that since this was the 3rd (or was it 4th!) issue of it, it would be available on the Armortek site for a while. I still didn't have the full funds saved when it was announced there were only a couple left... then they were sold out. SHUCKS! I would've ...

Re: Would Stiffer Center Springs Make Tanks Rock?

Well, after lots of hard driving, real close watching, bunches of testing, and enormous brane work, I've came to my final conclusion that switching the thicker/thin bars to see if I could get any 'rocking' motion was a total waste of time! This Tiger 1 was made in 2003 so it has the 'old style' tors...

Re: Would Stiffer Center Springs Make Tanks Rock?

Well, I got it all together today, deck, turret are all on. Again, it started getting HOT (97 degrees) outside and I was getting hungry and THIRSTY so that was it for today. I DID drive it off the cart back on to the motorcycle lift table and I didn't drive it around, that's tomorrow. One thing I di...

Re: Would Stiffer Center Springs Make Tanks Rock?

I started putting everything back together this morning. I couldn't find one of the road wheels SOOO, with a little shimming, I figure THIS'LL work PERFECT!! Me having the BRANE POWER I got I thought this out all by myself! This is how we fix thangs in Kentucky!! I don't think anybody'll even notice...

Re: Would Stiffer Center Springs Make Tanks Rock?

For a LONG time I've been wondering IF there's a way to get an Armortek tank to 'rock' when it starts/stops like a real tank. I've been thinking about it a LOT ever since I asked the question on here. Day before yesterday I lifted the turret off my Tiger 1 (to reduce the weight) and I drove it up on...

Where Can Steve Winstone Parts Be Ordered?

Where can somebody order Steve Winstone tank accessories from? Is there a website? I've been curious about that for years but I'm asking for a Good Friend. THANKS!

Re: Armorteks next model

Because of the heavy weight of this JT, will it have the 18 tooth sprockets and single link tracks? The 18 tooth sprockets would have more positive engagement with the track links while loading/unloading from a transport vehicle.

Re: AAF Museum Meet in Danville, Virginia 2019

Thanks Bob! We didn't want to use my '05 F150 because it couldn't hold that many tanks AND the bed isn't waterproof if it rains. We rented an 9 foot U-Haul cargo van (which ALSO gets BETTER gas mileage than the truck!) My wife and I loaded up 1400 pounds of Armorteks and put 4"x4"s and foam between'...

Re: AAF Museum Meet in Danville, Virginia 2019

Hi Kian! I only drove a couple of times and relied on Johnny, Larry and his wife Brenda (who has her own 1/16 tank), to drive'em the most so there were usually two to three Armorteks driving at any one time. The museum has a GLASS SMOOTH, sealed concrete floor so after five hours of driving the batt...

Re: Armorteks next model

As you know I want an M113 APC and I also think a Sherman with DOZER BLADE, like the one I saw at the Danville AAF Armor Museum this weekend, sure would make a VERY interesting Armortek kit also! Why, with it you could dig a pit in your wife's flower bed, fix up your tank run area, ANND push the SNO...

AAF Museum Meet in Danville, Virginia 2019

I attend the American Armor Foundation (AAF) 'Flamethrower Day' at Danville, Virginia this past Saturday and we put on an exhibit of our Armortek AFVs. This was my first time visiting the museum and it's a LOT bigger than I thought! They have a VERY LARGE number of armored vehicles, artillery guns o...
