Re: Something with 406mm main armament
John, Ballast tanks and pumps, now that sounds like a good idea I shall have to give some that thought for my model. Florian, My USS Missouri model will probably take at least 10 years to build but if I can build it to the standard of the Musashi that Bob has kindly shown on this thread I will be mo...

Re: Something with 406mm main armament
Gents, many thanks for your kind words. Robert, There's about 8000 to 9000 planks to made for this model, I have laid about 3500 to 4000 so far. My plan now is step away from the turrets and continue with the main deck and try to finish this job including staining and sealing the deck. Derek, I also...

Re: Something with 406mm main armament
Vince, I started out with a set of 1/200 plans and tried converting the measurements to 1/96 this proved to be a real problem as things just did not seem right. After looking on the internet I found a place that had copies form the original blueprints from 1945, there are 5 sheets at 3000mm long it ...

Something with 406mm main armament
Hi all, Being as I lost my mojo building tanks at the beginning of last year I had to find something to get me going again. After a lot of thought I decided to try and build a 1/96 scale model of the USS Missouri battleship at 2830mm long its huge project. So I purchased a fibre glass hull and the r...

Tiger 131 spare parts
Hi all, having a lockdown clear out and come across unused Tiger 131 spare parts. I would like to sell as a job lot but open to offers for individuals pieces. These include: 10 wheels (no tyres) and my prototype wheel which I made to fit the right way round for the track horns to fit. Cupola lid and...

Re: Wanted tiger 1 early, mid, late kit
Hi Paul, I have a tiger 1 tank that I would consider selling if you are interested. It is a tiger131 from the 2015 production run and it is 3/4 built, and is heavily upgraded by myself you can see the upgrades on my build thread "Tiger131 in South Wales". If you are interested in this model you can ...

Hi Vince,
Congratulations on a job well done, l have really enjoyed following your build and it has been very inspiring for me to get on with own tiger build.
On to your next project until the tiger calls you back to have a tinker with it.
Regards David

Re: Tiger 131 In South Wales
Simon, Thanks for your kind words and encouragement. I did say only a few more pieces to make and then it's ready for painting but the more I look at it the more I see there is make and do and that's just looking at the outside of the hatch. I think I will finish the outside and inside of the hatch ...

Re: Tiger 131 In South Wales
Hi Vince, Thanks for your comment. No it's not completely from scratch some parts have been heavily machined from the original parts other parts have been made from scratch. I think only 1 hinge (that might be re machined a little bit before it's finished) and the 2 extension pieces to the hinge are...

Re: Tiger 131 In South Wales
Hi, It's been a while since my last update, most of the time I have just been tinkering with the cupola hatch trying to make work properly because the hatch is 5mm smaller in diameter than the original armortek part. It has taken me a long time to make the new hatch and this has given me new prospec...

Re: Tiger 131 In South Wales
Hi All, Still working on the cupola but have hit a bit of a problem when I made a new roof plate to fit inside the cupola to take the hatch, nothing seemed to line up properly. I have been using the 5 bolt location points on the cupola and roof as my starting position but this puts the vision ports ...

Re: 00 FD 96 John's Main Contender
Hi John, I have to say I have missed my Centurion but seeing some photos of her again and knowing that she has gone to a good home does relive the pain a bit of not seeing her in my workshop. She's a big beast with the fuel tank on the rear end, I believe she's about the same size as a chieftain wit...

Re: Tiger 131 In South Wales
Hi All, I have made the decision to try and upgrade the cupola as I know it would annoy me everytime I look at it if didn't. So using the two main parts from the kit as the starting point then first thing to do was to reduce the diameter by 7mm for the main body from 152mm to 145mm and the upper rin...
