Re: John's Late Tiger 1

Phil, must be lighting. It's mainly aluminium. There are a couple of brass rings on the recuperate / recoil cylinder housings. This one is the one I'm using to work out how it will all fit together. Not sure yet how detailed I will go. So many excellent build going on at the moment. Great inspiratio...

Hi Paul,

Great work,

Thanks for posting info on that book. Just ordered a copy. Just getting back to my own tigers. Great inspiration.

Hi Steve,

What size batteries are you using? Nice neat electrics.

Great part Steen. I do not know much about 3d printing. Where do you buy the cad designs? Do they come in 1/6?

Re: John's Early Tiger 1

Mg mount is the old white metal version. It lacked the ring I believe holds the mg cover. I thought I would easily cut it on the lathe but when fitted in the chuck it was very irregular. Centred with 4 jaw chuck and got there in the end.

Re: John's Early Tiger 1

I have moved on a bit with the early Tiger. Still missing some parts but new lathe and milling machine will help sort that problem. Started on a turret floor. Need to order more tread plate. Re: Lathe /Milling machine advice

Well spotted Jeff. Close to 1/6 scale Stuka. It might fly someday. I need to build a canopy, fit fuel tank and connect the servos. Another retirement project. Learning from scratch with machinery. I have a couple of small projects to get me started. Tried the lathe already. Impressed with finish ach...

Re: Lathe /Milling machine advice

The little proxxon is not bad. I was using it as a pillar drill. Very easy to make 1.2 mm holes perfectly straight with no broken drill bits. I have also milled out shapes in 3mm brass. Cuts well but maximum 3.2mm. Looking forward to trying the WM 16 mill. Waiting for some tools to arrive. I have al...

Re: Lathe /Milling machine advice

I have been working on some new pieces and developing existing. A bit quiet on the forum for a while due to needs of 2 five year olds. Moving onto a shift pattern of work after my holidays so hope to make more spare time. I bought a proxxon mf70 milling machine recently which is more of a very stabl...

Re: Lathe /Milling machine advice

Thanks everybody for this advice. It has made decisions so much easier. I had studied the fitting of DRO online last night and it looks worthwhile fitting to both machines later. My decision will be the WM180 lathe and WM16 Mill. I can then budget for some decent tool to get started. Now just need t...

Re: Lathe /Milling machine advice

Yes Stephen. Looking at the DH-1 and noticed out of stock. I have contacted Warco and they say various items to be back soon. Rotary table also, probably 5 inch. How difficult is it to set up a DRO afterwards? As Lathes and milling machines are low in stock I have placed order to hold WM180 and WM14...
