Re: Tom's King Tiger Build 2019 Hull 53
Hi Brian, Once I finished the KT I almost never run it. Therefore, my tracks have not "stretched" so that I can remove a link set. I assume you are not able to operate your KT yet so you have not experienced the tracks climbing off the sprocket. Until a link set can be removed and the tracks pulled ...

Tom's Pak 43/41
Just finished my Pak 43/41. Another covid project. Don't know what I am going to do all day now. My next kit is the Sherman in spring. Thank God the vaccine is on the way. Re: Brian's Famo
Armortek calls them chassis rails. I do not recommend installing the motors later. It does require removing some parts and getting to some of the bolts was to say the least difficult. I only offered this info incase your motors are several months out. Better to move on to other assemblies and instal...

Re: Brian's Famo
Brian,
I was able to install my motors after the frames were joined. There are instructions in the option pack manual on how to do this. It is not easy but it can be done. If you can do it before joining the frames do it. If you do not want to wait just know it can be done.

Re: Tom's King Tiger Build 2019 Hull 53
Hi Allan, I applied a coat of MIG tan for 3 tome camo over the entire model then applied a coat of MIG brown wash for German dark yellow diluted down some. Both coats were partially removed while still wet with a dry lint free rag. Final weathering streaks, rust etc were done with Bragdon weathering...

Re: Tom's King Tiger Build 2019 Hull 53
Hello All, IT IS DONE. Finished painting and weathering the KT. Got all the option paks working too. Very impressive model. Only problem I am having is keeping the tracks on while making turns especially in reverse. The tracks climb off the sprocket when I turn. Works great in a straight line. The t...

Re: Tom's King Tiger Build 2019 Hull 53
Hi Vince,
I am not a tank expert but my opinion is that on the prototype those rivets were actually bolts used to jack the vent up and down. Maybe some of the tank experts on the board can clarify further. I just build them, I can't explain them.

Re: Tom's King Tiger Build 2019 Hull 53
Back with the turret report. Got it all together but not without some......adjustments. I had an issue with the right side of the turret. It was .140 higher than the left side. I managed to get the part in the mill and take off .140 from the bottom edge. Some more filing and fitting on several other...

Re: Tom's King Tiger Build 2019 Hull 53
Hi Phil, I had the same problem with tensioning the tracks. I increased the angle a couple degrees too. Mostly to compensate for future sagging of the suspension. At present my tensioner is set at maximum and it is barely enough. If I take a track set out I can not rejoin the tracks. Works OK for no...

Re: Tom's King Tiger Build 2019 Hull 53
Hi Guys, A few pics of the latest progress. I have everything below the turret done, painted and weathered. Applied a few welds too. This is my first try at three color camo. Now it's on to the turret. The parts are big and heavy. Curious to see what the difficulties are with this part of the build....

Re: FAMO radio setup
My FAMO has the same issues you are having. I had to max out the trim to get the wheels to be straight at the center position. As for right and left turning, you have it setup correctly. My FAMO does not like to turn. The tracks bind unless I make really wide turns. Seems like the slot in the tracks...

Re: Tom's King Tiger Build 2019 Hull 53
Hi Phillip, The fires are just a few miles from me at this time. No evacuation order yet.... Smoke is so heavy you can hardly breath. Can't work in the shop because the smoke is so hazardous. The high winds have calmed down and that is helping get the fires under control. Had a scare the other night...
