Re: 1st December - Factory open to showcase the kits

Many thanks to Monique and Kian for’throwing the doors open’, it was my first visit and it was fascinating to see the factory and the kits both old a new. Also to get build advice from very friendly and helpful folks. We had a 290 mile round trip, but it was well worth the effort despite the best ef...

Re: Actual Models related books M3 and Ferdinant/Elefant

I have the Ferdinand/Elefant book and can confirm that it is a very useful quick reference. I've been using it quite a lot during my build.

Re: Dave's Elefant Build

Thanks for the kind words. There are many on this forum with ability and skills I can only dream of, but still I hope to do the kit a degree of justice. You’ve probably seen that like you this is also my first Armortek build so it’s a true voyage into unknown territory. It’s going to take probably s...

Re: Dave's Elefant Build

After several weeks of work getting in the way of Elefant building, finally at bit of progress. The first of the six bogey assemblies is cleaned, fettled, test assembled and operating smoothly. 3DFD9B3E-EF46-45B8-BB9D-8FADAA773568.jpeg Time to get on with the other five. Once they are all dry assemb...

Re: Armorteks next model

So now we know, the M3 Lee/Grant. A very interesting choice. Nice having the two options. I have to say it’s not for me, but I’m sure many folks will be very happy, it also gives many build possibilities. Again well done Armortek for keeping the variety coming.

Re: ferdinand /elefant exhaust system

That is really useful information, thank you Per.

What is clear is that the exhaust exited the vehicle further to the rear than I was expecting.

Re: ferdinand /elefant exhaust system

Perfect, thank you Mark, that is quite a significant feature. Need to give serous thought about how best to replicate it.

Again, many thanks.

Re: ferdinand /elefant exhaust system

Thanks to Mark's information I am now looking to add the engine exhaust detail to my build. It will be purely for detail and will not use the smoke option. Looking at my photographic reference, the only photo I have looking upwards toward the area where Mark indicated the exhaust exit points were is...

Re: ferdinand /elefant exhaust system

Hi Nick I'm glad you asked this question as it was something that I had started to ponder over. This may sound like a daft thing to say but the more I look at the reference material that I have, I'm beginning to think that the 'exhaust box' at the rear is actually not for engine exhaust, but perhaps...

Re: Elefant/Ferdinand Toolbox

Dave, looks good. I was pondering how I was going to produce my own scratch built toolbox, but your version is far better than anything I could have come up with. Put me down for one of the rear mounted Elefant versions.

Re: Dave's Elefant Build

This is probably a little early in the build to be looking at this, but I have been giving the final paint scheme some thought. I’m intending to build the surviving ‘102’ and have been researching the details of this specific vehicle, in particular the camouflage that was applied while in service in...
