Re: Renault FT17

Günther,
I don't see what Dropbox has to do with this - you are linking to www.panther-tanks.de. Your post from April 12th displays fine with the same site. This last one does not.

Anyway, fantastic model! :D

Re: Roy's StuG III (no. 2020/10)

Spaceship tidiness! :D You, sir, are very inspiring! First, you made the beautiful panels, which inspired me to do something for my charging connectors. Now you raise the bar and show us that the interior is just as tidy. It will take me some time to digest this! Thank you so much for the le...

Beautiful - wow! :D

Did you actually machine them, or was this a matter of lots of elbow grease?

Re: CAD

I am using FreeCAD, because it is open source and always will be free of charge. Unfortunately, I have never used anything else, so can not compare. I use it to create parts for my 3D printer and have recently got into CNC. There is a built in slicer, that I have never tried. The CNC bit is rather i...

Re: Steel tracks on Armortek models?

The next best thing would be to convince AT to harden their aluminum alloy in their tracks and to increase the height of the drive sprocket teeth by 2-3mm, which would (I think) solve the track durability and slippage issues I and others are experiencing. I suspect that most posts pertaining to der...

I can't think of anything cheaper or easier to replace than a broken track link.

Adrian.
Agreed, but the most likely event is that you stretch the entire track to the point of breaking, thus deforming and weakening it.

Re: Steel tracks on Armortek models?

I have been thinking a lot of this. You want the weakest spot to be something cheap and easy to replace. A track set is not. An idler arm is not. The screws to the final gear housing are cheap, but removing them if broken could be extremely difficult, if at all possible. I have seen a design with a ...

Stunning model, to say the least! :D
I particularly like the oil stain and wear on the dozer blade. The model would do well in the "real or fake" section! :D

And it can turn on a dime, too! :D
I always thought that the halftracks had a mile wide turning radius. Have you modified it?
