Re: Number of Transoms per Panel

Your Question isn't daft at all and you do seem to have partly answered it for yourself. The more Transoms they greater weight it could take. The problem with the Armortek BB is that it can actually take more transoms than the original. On the middle vertical brace it was only ever possible to place...

Re: Zimmerit on Churchils

These tanks are Cromwells of 2nd Northamptonshire Yeomanry and these pics, & the footage they come from, are very well known. The Zimmerit paste-looking stuff on these tanks is in fact Rubber Strips that were fitted, quite possibly in the field, in response to German Infantry use of Magnetic AT ...

Hi Dennis,

I haven't heard anything back about the Goodwood Association yet, will chase Mark again today and see if he's got direct contact details for them.

Re: SW Model Show, Tank Museum, UK. 15/16 Feb

Hi Dennis, I've had a reply from Mark at the Pegasus Museum in Normandy, he has said he doesn't have the space to display something this big, however there is a local 'Goodwood Association' who organise events alongside various museums in the Normandy area and they'd most likely jump at the opportun...

Re: SW Model Show, Tank Museum, UK. 15/16 Feb

Hi Dennis,

I shot off an email to Mark late last night, he's always very busy so might take a day or two to hear from him but will let you know when I do. I'd almost be tempted to take it myself if I thought the wife wouldn't go ballistic. I do have a large workshop in which I can set it up.

Re: SW Model Show, Tank Museum, UK. 15/16 Feb

I'm pretty sure that the Pegasus Bridge Museum in Normandy would jump at the chance to have this model display. I know the curator and will email him the pics and ask him if he wants it.

Might want to have a look at this if you have issues with your Vickers MG tripod not splaying correctly

Re: Comet to Cromwell Conversion

Nice work on the new tracks, Have you also changed the sprocket drive? IIRC the Cromwell sprocket has less teeth than the Comet and is narrower, 14 " for the MkIV with a D Type rear deck plate.

Re: Bailey bridge info

A great book, although it's not all that rare. There were several thousand printed by the BAOR in 1947 and they were all sold to serving RE Officers. The RE Museum has about 10 copies and I have two here at home, one of which is in excellent health and the other had fallen apart at the spine....whic...

Re: Is there any merit in....

Mark,

will bear that in mind but any I sell will most likely go as part of a vehicle sale to sweeten the deal! All the stuff my three sons and I built up over the years is going up for sale soon. No-one left to play with it now that they're all growing up!

Re: Is there any merit in....

Thanks for that Mark, went through my files following this conversation and have found quite a stash of John's Stuff decals for all manner of vehicles from Tiger1's, Kubes, Schwimmers and Ketts, (these last two will be going up on eBay soon along with a Camo Schwimmer and a Kett Kit, so fortunately ...

Mark, thanks again buddy, wonderful stuff. Now that you mention it do think I remember your jeep from OSUK, although the old memory isn't as good as it once was! It would be nice to know a good supplier for making rubber tyres, someone tried and tested as it were. I have a plan to CAD several WWII E...

Re: Is there any merit in....

Mark, thanks for these, it's fantastic mate! it looks like a nice neat job (especially in comparison to some of the other hacks I've seen) and I think I've seen these pics before somewhere. Have you posted these anywhere else? It really does look great mate and I can't believe you got it to work wih...
