Re: Vickers 1/6 WW1 Machine Gun a dream

Might want to have a look at this if you have issues with your Vickers MG tripod not splaying correctly

Re: Comet to Cromwell Conversion

Nice work on the new tracks, Have you also changed the sprocket drive? IIRC the Cromwell sprocket has less teeth than the Comet and is narrower, 14 " for the MkIV with a D Type rear deck plate.

Re: Bailey bridge info

A great book, although it's not all that rare. There were several thousand printed by the BAOR in 1947 and they were all sold to serving RE Officers. The RE Museum has about 10 copies and I have two here at home, one of which is in excellent health and the other had fallen apart at the spine....whic...

Re: Is there any merit in....

Mark,

will bear that in mind but any I sell will most likely go as part of a vehicle sale to sweeten the deal! All the stuff my three sons and I built up over the years is going up for sale soon. No-one left to play with it now that they're all growing up!

Re: Is there any merit in....

Thanks for that Mark, went through my files following this conversation and have found quite a stash of John's Stuff decals for all manner of vehicles from Tiger1's, Kubes, Schwimmers and Ketts, (these last two will be going up on eBay soon along with a Camo Schwimmer and a Kett Kit, so fortunately ...

Re: Is there any merit in....

Mark, thanks again buddy, wonderful stuff. Now that you mention it do think I remember your jeep from OSUK, although the old memory isn't as good as it once was! It would be nice to know a good supplier for making rubber tyres, someone tried and tested as it were. I have a plan to CAD several WWII E...

Re: Is there any merit in....

Mark, thanks for these, it's fantastic mate! it looks like a nice neat job (especially in comparison to some of the other hacks I've seen) and I think I've seen these pics before somewhere. Have you posted these anywhere else? It really does look great mate and I can't believe you got it to work wih...

Re: Is there any merit in....

I’m one of a very few people who has converted a Dragon Jeep to RC, though I didn’t use the Maverick scout method which leaves a large gear protruding into the driving compartment and is on display... Mark, thanks for the reply, very interesting post indeed! What kind of speed do you get out of it ...

Let's keep it civil.
Apologies Kian, I get a bit thin-skinned when I'm being condescended to. I'll try to keep it in check buddy!

Re: Is there any merit in....

Well Stephen, I'm not sure you actually answered my question there, which was "is there anyone here who'd be interested in such an offering?", but you certainly take the prize for smug arrogance, so well done there! I will say this though, Laurels do have a tendency to wilt over time and as such the...

...Armortek producing a metal chassis and set of wheel hubs to replace those in the DML 1/6th Plastic Jeep Kit. A cheaper alternative to making a full vehicle and a solid way of making the DML Jeep a runner. I know some people have already RC'd one or two DML Jeeps but the kits, as they stand, don't...

Re: What tank would you like Armortek to make?

Not a tank, but how about a functional Schwimmwagen! You'd need to make the tub out of press steel to get it to float and then you'd need to work out the dual control for the drop-down propeller but it shouldn't be too difficult. Imagine a big swimming pool at Tankfest full of 1/6th scale schwimmers...

Re: Rolls Royce Armoured Car/ Silver Ghost launched today

One of the legs on the Vickers in on back to front, which is why it doesn't splay so well. it's not enough to reverse it you've also got to do a little bit of dismantling to put it right. It's not a big job abd let's face it, if you're building Armortek tanks you're more than capable of removing a p...

Re: Rolls Royce Armoured Car/ Silver Ghost launched today

Those of you thinking of buying one of these should now be thinking of hitting the bay and getting hold of the DiD John Coleman Vickers MG before the sellers began to realise their desirability for these models and up the prices. The DiD Vickers is a wee work of art (if you can get past the badly as...
