Re: Chieftain turret turn motor strange behaviour on initial switch on

Everything seems to power up as expected. I Have struggled to set the fail safe, would this make any difference? Is there an explanation on the forum of setting the fail safe with a DX8 and AR8010T? Following the instruction manual doesn’t seem to work? Otherwise i’ll Just have to resort to on-off-o...

Re: Chieftain turret turn motor strange behaviour on initial switch on

Hi Richard everything is zeroed and centred so it cannot be anything to do with that. Anyone else using the DX8 with the AR8010T receiver?

Re: Chieftain turret turn motor strange behaviour on initial switch on

It looks like I will have to find an alternative solution then! How about if I put a switch in the feed from the speed controller B to the turret turn motor? I mount this next to the main power on/off switch and only turn it on a few seconds after the main power switch has been turned on? Doesn’t se...

Re: Chieftain turret turn motor strange behaviour on initial switch on

Hi Adrian it’s a DX8 with an AR8010T receiver. I’ll try this tomorrow. Are you saying that if I do this then it will stop doing it permanently? The antennas are located at 90 degrees to each other. The interesting thing is that once turned on-off-on if you turn it off and back on within say 30 minut...

Re: Chieftain turret turn motor strange behaviour on initial switch on

Hi Mick thanks for the response. I have already tried this. All controls are centred, sub trims all zero etc with no offsets. I turn transmitter on first so there shouldn’t be an issue? Anyone else seen this issue as I have tried everything to no avail???

Chieftain turret turn motor strange behaviour on initial switch on

Hi I have some strange behaviour with my turret turn motor only on initial start up. When I turn on the motion pack switch the turret turn motor either rotates slowly or quickly. If I turn it straight back off and on again all is ok. I assume that this shouldn’t be the case? Everything else works an...

Re: Chieftain Build No.17

Whilst waiting for the main drive motors to be fixed and returned from Armortek I have been rearranging the electrics and modules got everything much better spaced out and neater/tidier cabling etc. All working fine now including the recoil with voltage at the drive motor cables. Lights also wired u...

Re: Chieftain Build No.17

Great pictures Mark. the tank looks mean. 8) Recoil Module, On input 1 plug (from the audio module), make sure the red power lead is disconnected and insulated, this may solve your problem of too many supplies on the audio module. The Audio module gets it's supply from the power module and the reco...

Re: Chieftain Build No.17

For the modules, I suggest its a return to Armortek! Wrt the motor, have you taken off the gearbox cover plate and inspected the brass bush? Richard I haven’t physically checked this but I don’t believe that there is an issue with the brass bush. The issue appears to be too much end float in the mo...

Re: Chieftain Build No.17

Thanks Andy but the instructions now state to connect the recoil to audio output 3. I have the recoil working but this then disables the power to the motors? If I disconnect the recoil then I have motor drive!

Re: Chieftain Build No.17

Thanks Manny. If I remove the 5 volt power supply to the recoil unit then the drive motors operate proportional to the sound but of course the recoil and flash don’t work as no power supply? Anyone else seen this issue?

Re: Chieftain Build No.17

Oh dear I knew it was too good to be true! Had real fun today with the Red modules and the drive motor gearboxes... Went for a run up the road, managed to get some video clips of the recoil and elevation working but... The RH side drive motor gearbox started slipping, too much end float by the looks...
