I know its not all that to the professional modellers out there but I’m not one of them. Hell you can see my washing in the background. This is my first tank model so i have tacked, glued and bolted stuff together just to see how it fits together before making it perminant. Tee jerry can holder is on a frame and will have a hinged bar at the front as i have seen on a historic picture.







When this is finished im going to strip it down and rebuild it in a workshop and paint it as i go.

How did you make that Jerry can rack mate?

Hi Mick

I used 2 lengths of 9.5mm aluminium angle cut to about 5mm shorter than can size. then 1 lenght slightly bigger than 3 can widths.
Then 2 lengths of 10mm flat aluminium to make the frame, one either side of the angle and bent another length of aluminium angle round as the surround.

I filed down the bolts on the reverse side to the same thickness as the flat aluminium (about 1.5mm) for a stand-off. I have just glued it together for size but will bolt it down once i have the shape right (as you can see the surround is a bit skew wiff). I will use a pin sticking out from the hull with split pin for the surround ends so it can be taken off

I had seen a similar system on some historic photos. The cans sit on the angle and are held by the surround strap. Simple but does the job

I'm moving to a house with a workshop in the next few weeks. So i will dismantle it totally, paint it, then rebuild. I just couldnt have an armortek kit sitting here in the flat here without building it, too impatient.

I brought a 900lb, 12 inch lazy susan from ebay for a tenner. Put it under the mini scissor lift and what a difference that makes. Can spin the tiger like record now and it's totally stable. Have an exact cut to size wooden base that sits under the tank on both edges so the floor doesnt get dented.
