Great photos John.

It's really handy at the IWM that you can get onto the balcony and look directly down on "Willie Pusher II"

Does anyone know the history of the name ?

Oh, and you should be able to edit the message and remove the double images

Thanks Adrian, I thought there must be a way to remove the double images!

I enjoyed the afternoon at IWM, especialy the 'holes' in the rear of the Jagpanther!

Adrian, or any other Sherman fan, Some of the casting numbers on Sherman bogies appear to be the date they were cast. Do you know if this is the case? Some of the IWM Sherman bogies are cast like the one below. The Bovington Firefly has 5-43 on the bogies.



Do you also know what reference numbers on the front transmission housing refer to?

I don't know for certain but it certainly looks likely.

The transmission housing numbers relate to the foundery which cast the parts, as well as the part numbers themselves.

For instance, the G in a hexagon on the transmission housing relates to the American Steel Foundries Granite City (Illinois) Works.

The web is a wonderful thing! I've bookmarked that page, i know it's sad. My crew are almost ready, they are putting the final touches to the 19 set. All they need now is a Firefly from the tank arsenal in deepist Devon!

Whoops Hope that doesn't spoil your plans ?

They had to stretch it to get the amazing lets-make-a-radial-engine-out-of-car-parts power plant into it. The M4A4 has also got a bulge top and bottom of the engine bay because it still wouldn't fit the Sherman hull
