TIM BOWMAN out of 1:6 business

Armortek owners can buy and sell 1/6 scale accessories and detail parts. note: Armortek does not necessarily endorse these products and can accept no liability for contractual disputes

TIM BOWMAN out of 1:6 business

Post by Jack Hrovatin » Sat Nov 01, 2014 5:03 pm

Gentlemen:
Alas, we have lost another PIONEER in our 1:6 scale hobbie....I heard from Tim on September 22nd., that he is not doing any more 1:6 scale work to pursue another hobbie. I have been looking for some of his parts, and I appreciate so many of you responding in kind, suggesting that I contact him directly...and thought it helpful to all who did or others to know of his hopefully temporary change of interests! He is a great guy, and of tremendous help to those of us in this hobbie...and a TRAGIC loss of a skill set not easily replaced!!

Jack

i have noticed Tim's absence from the forum of late, his input will be missed, he was a great contributor and vehicle builder, i would think he will return, he built a few tanks in succession and probably needs a break, but not to have a post from him is a loss to us all, regards simon manning.

Hi everyone,

I wasn't going to comment here because friends in the hobby already know that I am still very much in the hobby. I'm not sure why it was posted that I am "out of the business". I was never in the business.

Hobby? yes, Business? no :)

In fact, I spent this last weekend tinkering on several of them, including the Tiger 1's electronics.

Jack was looking for some Panther parts that I had made years ago. All the parts I have made were done for my own projects and were the result of extensive research, development and my time in Solidworks all before having expensive SLAs made of the parts. If I had extra parts, yes I would sell them. At my cost(no mark up) for the SLA part only. I lost money and time on every part I "sold" or shared with others. I didn't mind because I enjoy the hobby.

However, as much as I like helping others with parts or master patterns for parts to resell, it just became too much cost time and money to do so.

I took a break from 1:6th scale tanks to work on some other hobbies, including a 1944 Ford GPW restoration.

That, and other things in life, have not allowed any time for tanks. However, I'm still very much in the hobby. I have the following RC models waiting to be completed:

Stug III
Tiger II
Opel Blitz
Jagdpanzer IV L70
Sdkfz 251 Ausf D

Looking forward to all of them for different reasons.

Kind regards
Tim

ps..enjoying all the amazing builds on AT forum.

OH MY...my sincere apology to Tim Bowman, and anyone else I might have offended. I mistook "The Panzer Trap", as a small "Side Business", with the intent of supplying highly detailed parts to those of us in this hobby who did not have the talent that Tim has. I am not in his close circle of friends, and just thought to notify others who may have interest in obtaining his masterpieces of work. I did not try to cause harm, or insult to anyone, I sincerely apologize for making this claim. I had just received an email from Tim, who told me he was no longer producing anymore 1/6 parts...and had moved on to other hobbies. I had a dialog with another person in our hobby, who too was interested in his work, and we both agreed it was perhaps worth mentioning to others that he was moving on. Again, I apologize!

Regretfully,
Jack

Tim, our gloom is lifted! Your 75mm rounds still grace my Pz III and I always looked forward to your informed and interested posts. So, I can't say welcome back since you never went but good to hear from you anyway. You're truly part of the Armortek community.

Best regards

Stephen

Tim you forgot to mention your already built Tiger 1 and Panzer 4 which are works of art.
