Gurtsack for the MG AA mounted MG34/42

Postby Mike Stannard (toyrific) » Mon Jun 04, 2012 9:18 pm

Hi Guys

I have been a little under the weather the last few days and have been house bound, feeling a lot better today and hope to make it to the shop tomorrow for the fist time in four days. I have answered e-mails that I could, those that require me to be at the shop to answer, such as order status will be answered in the next couple of days.

Over the last four days I have spent most of time updating my catalog and price list. This is now with my programmer that is converting them to PDF format and will be posted over the next few days.

I have also done a lot of research and took a look back at projects I started and never finished. Still trying to decide which to continue with. Tim Bowman's pictures of the MG Gurtsack and AA Mount in the Armortek Owners forum prompted me to take a look at what I did six years ago.

I made a prototype functional gurtsack for the MG 34 AA mount. To date I have sold 268 of my MG AA mounts for the cupola on Tiger's, Panther, Panzer IV and Panzer III. So I figured there may now be more interest in the gurtsack and fittings. My MG mount does not come with the gurtsack fittings and some may want one without the gurtsack. Please remember the following pictures are of a prototype, the gurksack is fairly accurate, but the fittings for the mount are not, production parts will be correct.

Reason for the post is to try to find out the demand for the gurtsack and fittings to see if it is now worthwhile putting into production.

A full load of ammunition for a Tiger 1 MG34/42 was 39 gurtsacks containing 150 rounds each. The gurtsacks were used on the MG AA cupola mounted MG34/42 and the hull and turret ball mounted MG34's.

Estimated prices
Gurtsack and fittings assembled $100 to $125
Gurtsack and fittings as a kit $50 to $60
Gurtsack assembled $80 to $100
Gurtsack as a kit $40 to $50
Gurtsack mount fittings assembled $20 to $30
Gurtsack mount fittings as a kit $10 to $15

Please e-mail, PM or post here your interest.

Regards
Mike

Hi Guys

At the moment the gurtsack is not a go. The few requests I have had for them will not even cover to cost of the artwork for the photo-etched parts and having the cloth sack produced. If things change I will let you know.

Regards
Mike

OK, OK Mike, you talked me into it. Put me down for one Gurtsack and mount (kits) if you end up making it. They do look good.

I would like a couple of plain gurtsacks but I can't decide between kit form or assembled. Would there be sewing necessary to put the kit together?

Hi Alan

No sewing required, the canvas bag in the kit will be ready to fit.
