Allan > a two track horn layout trapping the stones in the tracks. The Sherman does have an advantage over the Tiger in that the inherent strength of both the tracks and idlers means if a stone makes it to the end of the track run then it usually get crushed to dust :!: > doing the guide plate modif...

Sherman Repairs

A while ago I broke my Sherman down into its component parts, ready for a complete rebuild. Today I have been cleaning up some of the bogies and identified a few parts which required some attention: The first was a severely bent spring: spring.jpg This was repaired by tapping it back into shape arou...

> then the gun hits the hatch when the turret is turned I have to say it is one of the little things which tickles me when I see a modern MBT spinning on the spot but with the turret counter-rotating to maintain a fix and the gun bounces up when the engine deck passes underneath   Adrian.

Excellent looking parts Dale :D I was looking at the periscope protectors on the Armorpax stand at the War & Peace show. How do you intend to retain them - epoxy, superglue or something else :?: I did wonder about shaving off the bolthead and using proper nuts and bolts but I'm not sure anyone makes...

Perhaps Armortek could create an Events Topic on this forum where owners could arrange and discuss meetings, such as the highly successful ones the Northern chaps have been enjoying at Leighton Hall :?:

Vince was at Stoneleigh in February but I didn't get much chance to chat to him.

Last time I did speak to him he was heavily engrossed with his Schwimmwagen so maybe full-size engineering has taken over from 1/6th :?:

Dale, that truly is an incredible model :!: :!:

Congratulations on your vision from the outset of the build and your patience and skill in seeing it through to such an outstanding conclusion.

I don't think this Tiger raises the bar so much as launches it :!: :!:

My thoughts exactly :D

When I first bought the Pz III and Pz IV Tamiya kits, I was amazed at how close in size the two tanks are. I had always thought the III was much smaller.

Hi Ad. The paint arrived today and, after a trail spray on some scrap material, I'm very happy with RAL 6031 as a good dark, not-too-green Olive Drab. The other paints I ordered were completely wrong though  , so I've ordered a RAL swatch as using the PC screen is obviously hopeless  Havi...

I'm trying to order some OD for my Sherman and am having problems arriving at a RAL number for the supplier to work to. The thread here, and my friend Google, gives Humbrol 75 as the correct shade. The problem is that I've only found one comparison site which includes Humbrol 75 and it equates it to...

I stand (well sit) by my explanation :D All Tigers have an antenna at that hull position, with standard tanks being the usual whip antenna. The Panzerbefehlswagen had the stenantenna mounted on the hull and the whip moved to the turret. Anyhow, Mike diagram is a much simpler explanation  As an...

Mike Stannard has it shown as being on the right rear chassis, in the triangle between the engine grill and the turret ring: http://www.afceremonials.com/catalog-pages/03.TigerB.pdf A couple of photos in "Tigers At The Front" seem to bear this out, with the whip antenna being moved on to the turret ...
