Re: New low profile animatronic bases

My wife has come down with a nasty virus so after a long conversation we've decided to cancel our trip to Bovington this weekend. I'm upset not to be going but she comes first, even though she kept insisting it was OK. I just wish we'd decided this yesterday as free cancellation ended on the room la...

Re: New low profile animatronic bases

A quick video of John's figures before adding the binos, gun etc. As can be seen the new bases are very low, and in the case of the Commander on the right only protrude around 1" into the turret.

New low profile animatronic bases

They say "necessity is the mother of invention". When John, my customer from the States, told me that he had minimal space for figures due to a recoil unit that filled the turret I started to think about just how much I could take out of my bases. I started by chopping the overall base height virtua...

Your welcome Kev, unfortunately there's a 10 image limit to each post so I had to split it in two. :)

Re: How-To - Pololu Maestro controller programming lessons

Part 2... Step10.jpg Step11.jpg Step12.jpg Well that's pretty much it, your card should now be working independently from the PC. The controller requires a voltage that suits your servos, I personally use a Ubec that converts one of the tanks 12V batteries down to 5VDC. It is common for the servos ...

Re: Churchill Creations new animatronic kits and Step by Step instructions

Hi Tim,

I knew there was someone I had promised a base too! :) I'll get one out over the next couple of days, don't use the front body half you have as the base has one incorporated into it.

Thanks,
Sym.

Re: Churchill Creations new animatronic kits and Step by Step instructions

Hi Kevin Hunter, Sorry for the delay, I also redesigned the rotate and tilt base last week to make it easier to assemble with an integrated front body moulding. As this was virtually complete when you're parts were printed I decided to swap out the older acrylic base for the better printed items. I'...

Re: Churchill Creations new animatronic kits and Step by Step instructions

While we're on the subject of the new kits I have had problems with recent batches of the small neck servos I recommend on my builds. It seems that the motor pinion gear is a push fit onto a plain shaft, after a short period the gear spins and the servo doesn't work! The later D05010MG servos with t...

Re: Churchill Creations new animatronic kits and Step by Step instructions

As well as the new pan & tilt bases I have also produced a simpler rotating base similar in operation to the old moulded version. This is designed to use a standard servo and has lugs for mounting. These figures for Patrick also show both of the optional movements on the pointing arm. By running a r...

Re: Churchill Creations new animatronic kits and Step by Step instructions

I've altered the neck parts on the new kits to make fitting of the smaller servo easier. Anyone who has bought one of my new kits and would like a free upgrade please let me know. :)

Re: Churchill Creations new animatronic kits and Step by Step instructions

Hi Tim,

Sorry this is the first time I've been on the forum this week. Yes no problem, I've got some acrylic on order for the bases so it should be here for the weekend. :)

Thanks,
Sym.
