Re: Tom's FAMO Build

Chang,
That measurement was taken from the frame not the nut.

Re: Tom's FAMO Build

Hi Chang, That picture was taken before I had even assembled the tracks. I measured the distance just now and it is: Right hand side .750 or 1.9cm Left hand side 1.125 or 2.86cm The two sides are different because of the way the suspension arms fit one above the other. I struggled with the adjustmen...

Re: Famo Bolts

By the way, since you are at the beginning of the build I would mount the drive motors before you bolt the two halves of the frame together for the last time. I did not do that and while it is possible to mount them later it is very difficult.

Re: Famo Bolts

Hello Walter, Well, that is not a good way to start your build. Occasionally Armortek mistakenly leaves out some parts. Usually bolts or other hardware. They are very good about replacing missing parts but I usually just go the hardware store and purchase them. I don't recall those parts missing in ...

Re: Resilient wheels

Is anyone painting these assemblies before assembly? I am concerned about the steel rings rusting on the inside. How about a coat of primer on the inside surfaces before assembly? Overkill?
Thanks,
Tom

Re: Tom's FAMO Build

Now it is on to the King Tiger. Here are a couple pictures of the Panzer, FAMO and the unopened boxes of the King Tiger. In the last photo you can see my lift table and ramp in the back round. Big day today opening the KT boxes and dealing with all those packing peanuts. IMG_2796.JPG IMG_2797.JPG IM...

Re: Tom's FAMO Build

Hello Guys, The FAMO in finished!! The tracks took 3 days to get running correctly. This model does not run as smoothly as the Panzer I built. The track links are so large they do not like it when you try to make a turn. They try to climb off the drive sprocket. Careful alignment of the road wheels,...

Painting and Weathering tracks

Hello Everyone, I have discovered a much simpler way to turn tank tracks black. I notice most of you prime them then paint them flat black. When I built my Panzer tank it came from Armortek with the tank tracks anodized black making it simple to give them a coat of MIG track wash and I was done. The...

Re: Tom's FAMO Build

Yes it is almost finished. About 3 more weeks. I will install the loads of ammo etc.in the rear and 4 German figures in the front. Then the canopy. I still need to build the two tracks. I will post more pics when it is complete.

Re: Tom's FAMO Build

Started weathering the FAMO this week. Long and labor intensive process. Using MIG washes and filters then Bragdon Ent. weathering powders. What you see is four days work. Thank God for Armortek kits during these covid times. I am busy every day. I now realize how anti social I am. Despite a pandemi...

Re: DX8 advice for new to RC

I have the new red units too. The switches mount one at the servo and one at the cam. They are part number CPO204 in my Panzer kit. When you trigger the canon it releases the switch to start the serve moving. It closes when the servo returns. The switch at the cam stops the movement at the proper lo...

Re: DX8 advice for new to RC

They come in the recoil option pack. You have to mount them to the firing mechanism. Granted mine is a Panzer, but, I assume they are all the same.

Re: DX8 advice for new to RC

Hi Andy,
Sounds like you do not have the 2 recoil limit switches adjusted correctly. They are critical to proper function and very sensitive.

Re: DX8 advice for new to RC

I had a recent issue like this only in reverse. My module A worked but not module B. Armortek advised me that there in only supposed to be voltage going to the receiver from module A. I checked to see if I was getting voltage out of module B and sure enough I was. The red wire in the center of the c...
