WEBSITE AND FORUM BACK ONLINE

Following our migration to a new service provider, our website and forum are now back online, HOWEVER, we are still restoring photographs. So far all photos from 2018 have been restored. We expect the rest to be restored by the weekend.

You may experience some odd behaviour from this site as your computer tries to load files from the "old" version. We suggest that you clear your browser history and cookies to help with this.

Re: Phantom into Ghost

Hi Robert,I would be most grateful for some help now that the main elements are coming together, I have to cut the opening for the rear doors and I know they come to a point, what I am not sure about is if all the 1914 pattern had the triangular roof over the doors, most of the pictures taken at the...

Re: Phantom into Ghost

the problem of using photos to create a model is that it only shows the finished item and not how to achieve your goal, I could not work out how the armoured body attached to the chassis until I saw a speeded up video of James Black restorations, restoring ... Re: Phantom into Ghost

well after a 3 weeks of decorating I am back to modelling, seeing things after a break I changed a few things, new rear bulk head to engine bay, and replaced the central stretcher with one on each side, armoured engine bay completed with working hinges and wingnuts, the wingnuts were a challenge, ha...

Re: Armortek

Hi Robert, stunning work on the artillery pieces and I am envious of all that space and equipment, Like a lot of modellers l just have a garden shed and make do, if you would like to see some build pictures of the loco, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnqq3FOwge0 before I retired I worked for a compa...

Re: Armortek

Hi Mick thats a great choice for a model, but it would scale to just over 11 1/2 foot long and would need a crane to move it, I scratch built an early small sized shunter in 1/6th scale and that took 3 people to move it

Hi Simon, great work on scratch building the crane and winch, brass gears would be better, lots to choose from, I have just used some Maccano worm gears on a traction engine steering, keep up the good work

Re: Phantom into Ghost

Hi Simon good to hear from you hope you are well, I had a couple of part built 1/8th scale Pocher k72 kits they are like airfix on steroids, over 2000 parts in metal and plastic with fully operating engines and brake systems, but that is why they end up being abandoned, I have only used the chassis,...

Thanks Robert, yes it was an old Pocher kit, I had to make both the front and rear leaf springs, used heat shrink on the front to simulate the covering

Phantom into Ghost

Inspired by Armorteks armoured car, I thought I would have a go at modifying a 30 year old part kit in 1/8th scale, this was of a later Phantom but Rolls used the same chassis, I changed the engine to side valve, made the cantilever springs and a start made on the radiator armour, the rest of the ar...

Projects other than tanks

About two years ago I bought a decommissioned AST300 flight simulator, designed more or less for instrument training on prop engine aircraft, the computers although upgraded were old Microsoft NT and 2000 machines with a small screen used to plot the aircraft position, to cut a long story short, I t...

Re: Leopard 1A4

Just a few more pictures of the build, I wont bore you with all the details, but I wanted to be as accurate as I could, when researching the tools for the sides of the tank, there was one I did not recognise, it turned out to be the jack for lifting the engine decks and was housed in its bracket on ...

Re: Leopard 1A4

Thanks Armortek, thanks Frank, I managed to get some replacement track links from Veroma last year. There were a couple of visual discrepancies on the tank, no side skirts, main deck with cast front mudguards, and the rear of the tank with a square telephone box, the 1A4 had a round t/box, so mudgua...

Re: Leopard 1A4

Well I have not had any adverse comments, so will try to post some pictures and describe the renovation, all major pieces cast from alloy and welded, torsion bar suspension, deck with a multi circular copper track with electrical brush pickups in the turret, a novel way to provide power to the turre...
