Re: Jeffs 25 pounder

The 25 pounder is now finished, although there might be an update if an ongoing project comes to fruition, its has been a very enjoyable build, light and easy to work on, and plenty of scope for detailing, plus plenty of help and encouragement from the forum. Anyone guess what my next project is htt...

Thanks Stephen, not many updates to come, all the main elements completed, just straps and a couple of tie downs to do, finished the aiming poles, these have steel shafts and arms, used the kit shovel head but with a wooden handle, and fitted one of Dave's drag ropes http://pic80.picturetrail.com/VO...

Re: Jeffs 25 pounder

finished detailing rear of the shield, and made a start on the front, the aiming poles and brackets took a bit of head scratching, to get them to be functional, just the white numbers and banding to do, also made some of the tools, and remade the brackets for the pickaxe head http://pic80.picturetra...

Re: Jeffs 25 pounder

Hi Michael, the small pouch on the left trail contains the fuze key, the Clinometer is housed in the holster shaped pouch on the right rear of the shield, (25pounder handbook)

Re: Jeffs 25 pounder

Re: Jeffs 25 pounder

Phil, Marcus, Robert, thanks for the kind comments. made a start on the various bits and bobs, started with the tool boxes, as the ones in the kit are solid alloy (good doorstops), I used wood and brass, and also used some fabric to simulate the water proof canvas around the lip of the lid http://pi...

Re: Jeffs 25 pounder

It has been a few days since posting, but I have been busy trying to work out how to make the connecting arms, from the firing platform to the trail, these need to lock rigid when the gun is on the firing platform, unlock and fold while still attached to the trails, when raising to the locked up posi...

Re: Jeffs 25 pounder

Marcus, Vince thanks for the comments, most of the firing platform completed, put in the 10 and 5 degree marks, not sure if I need to mark the single degrees (288), added the lifting chains, but you do need the turnbuckles to lock the firing platform in the up position http://pic80.picturetrail.com/...
