Re: Yves Panther A update

I agree the track tension bracket idea is excellent. I like it better than a machined solution.

Excellent details all around - you've added a lot of extra parts! $$$$

Great build - good to see progress!

Re: Vince's Tiger 1 late variant 2017

Vince I too recommend resistance soldering. Micro-Mark has a relatively inexpensive unit: https://www.micromark.com/Resistance-Soldering-Unit But to do any real work with it you need the tweezer plier type tip: https://www.micromark.com/Heavy-Duty-Soldering-Pliers They used to sell the whole setup f...

Jeff
That will be awesome with the blank firing and recoil! From a liability standpoint you may be reluctant to share the blank firing design - I'd like to see how you do it too! That is really neat. I'm sure it will be a mini masterpiece like all your builds.

Re: My Beaut Aussie Cent

Well done Steven, Your build logs are more like sagas or on-line books than build threads! Thanks for all your efforts to research and share - it makes this forum what it is - an interesting, informative and useful community! I'm glad I'm not the only one that takes 6 years (or more) to get somethin...

Re: Vince's Tiger 1 late variant 2017

Vince,
Those side skirts look awesome. I will do something similar to add the triangle pieces. I may use steel.

I believe the entire sides were zimmerited, even under the skirts.

Re: Late Tiger 1

Few more updates. Installed the lower half of the periscopes. These were left over from my Panther G project. They are cast from white metal, like the top half scopes. They look ok from a standoff distance. Installed lower periscopes. Good enough from standoff distance? https://s5.postimg.cc/4s8oqmo...

Re: Brian's 2017 NO. 10 LATE TIGER 1 BUILD

You are right - welds are very time consuming. I would recommend filling some of the lower screw head recesses though - they will detract some on the look.

Wanting to drive the model and getting a FAMO are both great reasons to move along!

Re: Brian's 2017 NO. 10 LATE TIGER 1 BUILD

Hi Brian
I do like your hull color - I think it looks just right. Are you going to fill any of the screw holes and add fake welds etc?

Re: Late Tiger 1

Hi Steve Many thanks - most of the mods I think you did on yours years back. I just went through the forum and downloaded as many pix of your build as I could find. You set the bar high for rest of us! Question for you - when you lowered the rear deck did you also lower the exhaust shields and exhau...

Re: Late Tiger 1

Hi All A few more updates. After a couple days working on the turret cupola and commanders hatch. I remade the lift/opening mechanism with stainless steel post and brass sleeve. The hatch has a locked position now when open. I machined the bottom of the hatch to lighten it and make the simulated hea...

Re: Late Tiger 1

Hi Vince Copy away! Some of my mods are "copies" from other builders as well. Thanks Brian, some mods are not to involved really. The lower armor pieces can be made with a hacksaw and drill and some 1/4" alum plate (or modify original parts). The magnets can be done with a drill (and epoxy). I keep ...
